Pateriko found a spider in the den and told me to come see it. It was a strange looking thing. I'd never seen one quite like it. It had a red body with black and white striped legs. I'd put money on the fact that it belongs to the group that includes jumping spiders, but even researching it, I couldn't identify it. Give me time.
Anyway, through this process, Litkia was standing on the back of the couch, jumping around, saying "be bear-ific! be bear-ific". Apparently she had just been on the build-a-bear workshop website and I thought she was trying to "be bear-ific" through her spider-type panic, but as the day has gone on, she is still walking around talking about and singing about being bear-ific. Now, I assume she just has that stuck in her head and it had nothing to do with the unidentified arachnid whatsoever. Therefore, I have told her to shut up and I'm helping her with that by singing "Candy Girl" in her direction every time she says the word "bear-ific". Bad thing is, now I have Candy Girl stuck in my head. I'm not sure which is worse.
Do you know this guy?

I don't have my son's bug book here anymore, it's an Audubon guide. You could send it to http://www.whatsthatbug.com/ or a lot of local extension offices will also ID bugs for you. I have a daughter that is genuinely arachnophobic. The just give me the heebie-jeebies if I don't see them coming and they are suddenly on me or near me. She freaks out.

No.
But if you give me a shoe, I'll give it a good smack for ya.

That is what is commonly known as a "spider." The scientific name is "spider."
Like Raejane said, just whop it with a shoe and never think of it again or you could pick it up and take it outside. That way, when you are headed to the tomatoes in the dark, you can walk through the web, getting it all over your face and Mr. Spider will then be in your hair.
Opt for the second choice and we will get a post on that.

My spider sense is making me all tingly.
I'm about 95% sure that's a Peter Parker, but it depends on if that paper is college ruled or wide ruled.
And whassup with the "be-bear-ific"? That's what I really wanna know!

Do you know about build-a-bear workshop? She has one and she goes to the website to play. Horrible song plays there.

Wow, beej, that's kinda cool. Um, so Litkia was saying the spider was bear-riffic? Huh. Wouldn't have been my first choice of words. I probably would have been more like "oh sh*t! kill it! GAAAA! SIC SEMPER ARACHNIDIUS!"
....
Yeah.

Has Litkia been watchin My Name is Earl? Because I have.. and Earl was SUPPOSED to take Randy to the county fair where they had the ACTUAL Smokey and the Bandit Car on display. The fair was advertised on the TV and a big talking man in a stupid bear suit kept sayin, " come on down, it'll be bAHHHR-riffic"... yeah, that was pretty lame.. even for me.
