I'm teaching my grandkids to all lean back (just a little) in their chair and say, "Yummy to da tummy" while they rub their bellies. If these are the little wild green ones that grow by our house, that would be a valid description. |

I have never had these but I have had domestic Port wines...could have been from these.
Enjoy! |

There is a actually a quaint little winery not too far from here that grows this type of grape. Perdido Vineyards http://www.perdidovineyards.com/ |

I had some of these recently myself. They bring back such great childhood memories. |

Gnut, did you ever hang out at the city pool at the end of Dawn Drive? The woods behind that place had muscadine vines everywhere. We didn't know what time of year they were supposed to be ripe, so we'd shake the vines no matter what time of year it was, just hoping some would fall.
Good times. |

Muscadines? Scuppernongs? Are they some sort of narcotic? |

Yes Abby...the best kind of narcotic. Addictive without negative long-term side-effects. In other words I believe my muscadine addiction is why I never did heroin.
And no...never went to the city pool. I was from the other side of the tracks in that town so I wasn't allowed over that very very much.
My "musky" supply came from the family farm outside New Augusta. |

They really are kind of addictive. |
